In recent times, narratives branding Nigeria as a “designated country” for failure, chaos, or corruption have gained traction across international and local media spaces. Some even go further, suggesting that Nigeria’s crises — from insecurity to economic instability — are merely self-inflicted. But a deeper look reveals that this is not just a coincidence of misfortunes; it is a carefully orchestrated conspiracy designed to weaken Africa’s most populous nation and dim the light of its rising youth population.

For decades, Nigeria has been portrayed as a failed state — a country of violence, scams, and political recklessness. Yet, beneath this image lies an intentional attempt by both internal saboteurs and foreign interests to sustain a narrative that keeps the nation dependent and divided. Each time Nigeria rises to assert its strength — whether in oil production, agriculture, technology, or diplomacy — some hidden hands find new ways to pull it back into crisis.

Let’s not be deceived — the conspiracy against Nigeria’s progress is both external and internal. Externally, global power blocs benefit from Nigeria’s instability. A stable, industrial, and united Nigeria would reshape the balance of power in Africa, reducing the West’s influence on the continent. It would mean Africans setting their own agenda, managing their own resources, and trading on equal terms. That is a threat to those who profit from Africa’s disunity and dependency.

Internally, corrupt political elites and their cronies play the role of willing accomplices. These are the same individuals who sabotage reforms, embezzle public funds, and mortgage Nigeria’s future for personal gain. They feed the external narrative of Nigeria as a country incapable of progress, while enriching themselves under the cover of chaos.

But the real tragedy is not the conspiracy itself — it is how long Nigerians have tolerated it. We have allowed the politics of ethnicity and religion to blind us to our collective strength. We have allowed a few to define our destiny and the global media to define our image. It’s time to break that cycle.

The emerging generation of Nigerians — young, visionary, and fearless — must see beyond this conspiracy. They must understand that reclaiming Nigeria’s future requires both resistance and responsibility. Resistance to external manipulation, and responsibility in electing credible leaders who prioritize the nation’s interest above their own.

That is why figures like Abayomi Rotimi Mighty and other youth leaders bracing up for the next political dispensation deserve attention. They represent a new kind of politics — one built on competence, courage, and conviction. They symbolize a break from the culture of mediocrity and dependency that has made Nigeria easy to manipulate.

Nigeria is not a “designated country” for failure. It is a nation of destiny, endowed with resources, it can only thrive when the victims remain silent.

The time has come for Nigerians to reject the narrative of doom, rise above deceit, and reclaim their place as Africa’s leading light. The world may conspire, but only Nigerians can decide whether to bow to that design or rewrite the story for generations to come.
