Abayomi-Mighty, leading presidential aspirant for Nigeria’s 2027 elections, has criticised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration for what he termed “irresponsible governance spending amidst national hunger and mass poverty.”
Speaking at a policy dialogue with grassroots leaders in Abuja, Abayomi Mighty condemned the recent approval of billions of naira for luxury renovations within the Presidency while over 133 million Nigerians remain in multidimensional poverty.
He noted that Tinubu’s administration approved ₦15 billion for Presidential Villa renovations and ₦5 billion for new presidential jets within one year, describing it as “an insult to struggling Nigerians.”
“Leadership is about sacrifice. Governance is not an avenue for comfort while citizens starve. If a leader truly understands service, he will cut down his privileges to create welfare systems for the people,” Abayomi Mighty stated firmly.
He further questioned why such funds could not be redirected to revitalise teaching hospitals, primary healthcare centres, or subsidise agricultural production to reduce food inflation. He said, “What we witness is misplaced priorities and hardened hearts towards the plight of the ordinary citizen.”
Abayomi Mighty assured Nigerians that his presidency will implement:
- A National Governance Cost Reduction Policy to slash unnecessary luxury expenditures by at least 60% within the first year.
- Strict public fund redirection frameworks to focus on health, education, and MSME development.
- An Integrity Leadership Model where leaders lead by example, embracing humility and sacrificial service.
He emphasised, “I will not lead a government that feasts while the people hunger. Leadership is about service, sacrifice, and strategic stewardship of public resources.”
Abayomi Mighty concluded by urging Nigerians to reject wasteful leadership and embrace a new era of integrity-driven governance focused on national prosperity for all.
“Our economy can recover if we cut waste, fight corruption, and prioritise productivity. Together, we can end poverty and restore Nigeria’s dignity,” he declared.
